- Set up the dehumidifier and aim for a relative humidity of no more than 50%. This is a good number to remember or to put a mark at on your dial. More than 50% humidity in your home can lead to mold growth.
- Use dehumidifier in bathroom, basement or attic especially in summer to reduce humidity
- If there is previous water damage in your home, run your dehumidifier to dry out
- It’s important to follow all instructions for changing filters, cleaning etc to the manufacturer’s requirements. If you’ve put the money into a dehumidifier, then chances are you don’t want to throw away your money on another one. Follow the instructions!
- Place dehumidifier on a flat, stable surface with 10-12″ of free space surrounding it
- Check/empty tank regularly to avoid overflowing and further damage. This will also give you an idea of how much humidity you’re removing from the air by emptying and recording levels.
